Mission Statement

Acknowledging our shared life in Christ, we will work to empower the New York Conference UCC (local churches, associations and the conference) to grow in ministry and mission to the world in collegiality with Wider Church Ministries of the United Church of Christ and all settings of the ecumenical church.

Mandates

 Global Partnerships

The commission will continue to engage in the Global Partnership arrangements of the New York Conference and look to increase our participation with ecumenical partner denominations and groups with the approval of the Conference Executive Council. Presently, we have partnership relationships in Honduras and Nicaragua. The commission will also cooperate with and assist in coordinating mission trips involving youth and adults.

Mission Engagement

Missionary Visits: The commission will coordinate visits of Common Global Ministries sponsored missionaries to churches throughout the conference.

Missionary Partnerships: The commission will pursue special, covenantal relationships with Common Global Ministries sponsored missionaries and encourage local churches and individuals throughout the conference to participate in these partnerships.

Disaster Response

In cooperation with the national offices of the United Church of Christ the commission will develop a Disaster Response Network of persons from local churches throughout the conference, which will provide resources for churches in helping victims of disaster domestically and internationally, and will also coordinate efforts to assist our churches and members if disaster strikes in our midst. A strong emphasis will be placed on providing pastoral care and counseling for victims and caregivers.
