It is the mission of the Global Church Commission to empower the New York Conference UCC (its local churches, its associations and the Conference itself) to grow in ministry and mission to the world and to fulfill its commitment to be a global mission conference.
What the Commission does:
Global partnerships: The Commission helps the Conference to maintain contact, keep informed and visit churches in other countries with which we have established partner relationships.
The Conference currently has relationships in Nicaragua, Honduras and Germany.
There have been trips to Nicaragua, Honduras, Germany, South Africa and Mozambique.
Missionary relationships: The Commission maintains relationships with select missionaries and encourages local churches and individuals to have such relationships.
The Conference currently has relationships with missionaries serving in Nicaragua, Palestine/Israel and Kenya
Missionary visits: The Commission arranges visits of missionaries to churches in New York.
Mission interpretation: The Commission informs people and explains the support which the Conference and the United Church of Christ give to churches in other countries.
It recruits people and encourages them to be trained for this task.
It arranges periodical gatherings of people from the churches who are interested in and supportive of the ministry of the church in other countries.
