UCCNY announces new Associate Conference Minister for Congregational Vitality

The New York Conference is excited to welcome Reverend Shernell Edney Stilley as our Associate Conference Minister for Congregational Vitality.

Reverend Edney Stilley comes to New York from San Jose, CA where she currently serves as Minister for Congregational Life at First Congregational UCC.  She has also served as Minister of Education at HOPE Partnership in Indianapolis; Program Associate of Global Advocacy and Education for Global Ministries (The UCC/Disciples global ministry program). Prior to this she worked as the Donor Family Advocate for LifeNet Health Care in Virginia Beach and Resident Chaplain for Bon Secours Health System in Hampton Roads, VA.  She is the Vice-Moderator of the Northern California/Nevada Conference and has served on the Board of Directors of Wider Church Ministries.  She is a member-elect of the United Church of Christ Board of Directors.

Reverend Edney Stilley is a graduate of Drexel University where she holds a B.S. in Corporate Communications and a graduate of Virginia Union University where she earned her Master of Divinity.  She has completed four units of Clinical Pastoral Education qualifying her as a Certified Pastoral Care Specialist.  She is a nationally UCC certified trainer of J-LED (Justice Leaders Engaging and Developing).  She has worked with a wide variety of congregations providing guidance and support in the utilization of the congregational vitality programs such as "New Beginnings".  Her professional experience includes guiding in the Open and Affirming process, and resourcing congregations on social media, website development, and multi-media presentations.

In her new position she will provide staff assistance to the Committees on Ministry for Metropolitan and Suffolk Associations.  Reverend Edney Stilley's programmatic responsibilities for the entire conference, as they pertain to Congregational Vitality,  include Faith Reconciliation, Community Re-Discovery,  Social Justice Empowerment, Revitalization Strategies, Oversight of New Church Start programs, and Readiness 360.  Other programmatic responsibilities will include resource person for local church ONA processes and how to become a WISE Congregation.

Reverend  Edney Stilley's first day will be May 16th, 2019 at the NY Conference Annual Meeting.
